Between 1980 and 2000, Peru has been the scene of clashes between no thank you ' State and Maoist guerrillas Shining Path , internal war that has claimed nearly 70,000 victims. Nearly 15,000 people missing, mostly Indian peasants in the Andean highlands, have been uprooted from their community and never reappeared.

The Book of Daniel Dupuis ¿Donde Estan? Terror and disappearances in Peru (1980-2000) , particularly interested in this tragic historical situation and the issues it raises. Thus, for example, what were the means used by thousands of mothers, wives or sisters to trace their missing relatives? How to start the process of mourning when the victims' bodies can not be found? How is the survival of entire communities condemned to exile and dispersal to escape the madness of this conflict? What do these events report of a whole country with its indigenous population? These are some questions raised by the book.
