Ecuador : The land of mega-diversity. The value of tropical biodiversity

The Equat Eur has immense biodiversity, making it the focus of universities and foreign institutions, which devote efforts to study and explore.

Only in the small reserve of río Palenque , close Santo Domingo de los Colorados was discovered 1,250 species of plants (approx. 136 families) in less than one square kilometer. However, 100 of them have just been listed on the botanical records for Ecuador and only 43 are known only in this specific area [for the record, the all species of U.S. and Canada is barely 700] ...

In addition, misty forest of Ecuador holds the largest number of species of this flora, more than 4,500 orchids, which gives this country the title of the country with as many of these plants.
